Artitude 2021 I''m busy making notes, and charts, and samples, and videos, and dreaming about the exciting year-long class I have planned for 2021. Last March, when the world was hunkered down, I was pretty convinced that my teaching career was over. Life choices certainly seemed limited at that point. Like many of you I despaired. The idea of starting a little FB group dedicated to art and musings came to me one afternoon and by the next day I had it up and running. A group of friends from the myriad art worlds I am part of joined up, and through the winter doldrums, and forward into spring and summer, a little community developed and we gave each other hope and we shared art ideas and the work we were doing. I grumbled about Zoom, and how uncomfortable it made me, and how it just wasn’t the same. And then I got brave and jumped in. Life was suddenly alive with possibilities I never dreamed of. I learned so much. In 2021 I am going to offer a year-long class that uses what I have learned over the last four decades of creating art, and teach it in the ways that I have learned in the past year. This class uses bookbinding as a jumping off point to explore art materials and techniques in new, thematic, and exciting ways. It is a class for beginners and a class for more experienced paper artists who want to develop their skills. It is a class designed to create a nurturing art environment. It is a class for people who want to try their hand at paper decorating in all its various forms. This course is going to be uniquely (and unapologetically) me! I'm going to share generously what I have learned as a working artist and creativity coach, and talk about staying active as an artist no matter what life throws at us. And we will laugh together and celebrate our creativity.
